Containers for Change Scheme ID – QLD

    You can receive your Queensland Containers For Change refund from our RVMs directly into your bank account or PayPal account. To allow for this, the myTOMRA app is no longer active in Queensland and has been replaced with the Containers For Change QLD Scheme ID.

    At the RVM’s you can either use your scheme ID barcode for digital payments and donations or receive a cash voucher (no sign up necessary). For Bag Drop, you will need a scheme ID as the myTOMRA app no longer available – please see our friendly staff for assistance.

    How to get your digital refund

    1. Sign up for a Scheme ID

      Visit www.containersforchange.com.au to sign up.

    2. Get your barcode

      Download the Containers for Change QLD app, log in, and tap the barcode icon.
      OR
      From your confirmation email, save your scheme ID to your mobile wallet.

    3. Scan and return

      Scan your barcode at any RVM before returning containers.

    4. Receive digital refund

      You will instantly receive an email confirmation. Your refund will be transferred to your nominated bank or PayPal account within 1 business day.

    How to get your scheme ID

    1. Sign up for a scheme ID – go to the Containers For Change website, select the sign-up button and follow the instructions.
    2. Get your barcode – you can get this from the Containers For Change’s app, the website, or from a confirmation email that’s sent to you after you register. Make sure you save this in a safe place. You can use a screenshot, save it to a digital wallet or even print it out, as long as the barcode is visible, it will work.

    Important: The myTOMRA app will no longer be active in Queensland after 1st February 2021.


    FAQ

    I usually get paper vouchers; does the change affect me?

    No, this change is only applicable for digital payments. You can continue to return your containers and select ‘PAYOUT’ on the screen to receive a retail cash voucher.

    How do I sign up for a scheme ID?

    Signing up is easy! Head to the Containers for Change website, simply click ‘Sign up’ and follow the instructions to enter your bank account details and/or link to your PayPal.

    How do I get the Containers for Change app?

    Head to your App Store to download the Containers for Change QLD app directly from on your phone. You will see a unique barcode within the app. This is to be scanned at any RVMs across our 10x centres. If you are doing a bag drop you will just need to know your scheme ID number. If you are having issues with your scheme ID or the Containers for Change app please contact Containers for Change on 13 42 42.

    Can I come in with my scheme ID number?

    When returning at the RVM, you must have the barcode linked to your scheme ID. This can be found in the Containers for Change app with a handy shortcut on the bottom menu or via the digital wallet in your confirmation email. If you are using the bag drop, you do not need to have a barcode. You will need to type the number of your scheme ID into the tablet in order to print off the bag tags.

    Can I still get digital/E-vouchers for Woolworths?

    No but if you prefer a cash refund, you do not need to register for a scheme ID. Simply return your containers and select “PAYOUT” for a printed voucher redeemable for cash, or money off groceries, at your local Woolworths.

    Do I have to get the Containers For Change app to get a scheme ID?

    The Containers for Change app has a range of features for an easy and engaging recycling experience. There is a quick shortcut to access your scheme ID barcode on the bottom menu of the app.
    However, you can also find your barcode in the email confirmation you receive from Containers for Change QLD, with the option to save your scheme ID to your mobile wallet.

    How do I use my scheme ID at the RVMs?

    To receive your refund directly into your bank account or to your PayPal account, you can use your scheme ID barcode at the RVMs. Scan your barcode before you begin returning your containers and you will see a confirmation message on the screen of the machine. Return all of your containers and once you are done, click ‘Transfer.’ Your refund will be paid to your selected bank or PayPal account and the funds will take up to one business day to be transferred.

    Who do I call if I have issues with the myTOMRA app?

    All queries relating to the myTOMRA app are to go to the TOMRA Service Centre at 1300 11 88 88 or help.qld@tomra.com

    What will happen to the myTOMRA app on my phone?

    The app will still be visible on your phone but it will no longer be active in QLD from 1st February 2021. Meaning if you try to scan your myTOMRA barcode at a TOMRA RVM in QLD, this will NOT be accepted.

    What will happen to my pending E-vouchers?

    All existing E-vouchers will remain in your app until you redeem these in store at Woolworths. All vouchers are valid for 3 years.

    Why can’t you continue to have both myTOMRA and scheme ID?

    To avoid confusion for our recyclers, we have decided it would be simpler to accept one app only.

    How do I delete my myTOMRA account?

    We are sorry to see you go! However, if you would like to have your account permanently deleted please email us at help.tca@toma.com from the same email address that your account is registered under. Please note, you will lose any unclaimed refunds, so be sure to claim your outstanding balance before requesting account deletion.

    Why are you making this change?

    We value our customers’ feedback and endeavour to provide the best experience to all recyclers. In our recent customer surveys, we have learnt that many customers would like to receive their refund directly into their bank account as well as PayPal and to be able to scan containers to check their eligibility. The Containers for Change QLD app includes these features and is recognised state-wide ensuring we provide an easy, engaging and convenient recycling experience.

    Can I transfer my refund history or achievements to the Containers for Change app?

    No, your refund history or achievements cannot be transferred to the new app but you can still go into the myTOMRA app to view your history and continue to redeem any unclaimed E-Vouchers whilst they are valid.

    Why are charities no longer on the RVM screens?

    We have removed charities from our RVMs to simplify the donation process and to provide you access to a greater number of charities to donate to. Recyclers can donate to any charity, not-for-profit group, school, or sports club that are registered with Containers for Change, giving you the opportunity to support the cause you are connected to.

    Charities are no longer featured on the RVM screens, how do I donate my refund?

    You can continue to support your local community by donating your container refund using the scheme ID barcode of any charity, not-for-profit group, school, or sports club that are registered with Containers for Change. Simply scan the scheme ID barcode of the charity or NFP group of your choice and the refund will be directly transferred to them.

    I don’t have the scheme ID barcode of the not-for-profit organisation I want to donate to. I only have their scheme ID. What do I do?

    Please reach out to the charity directly to ask for their scheme ID barcode. Once you have their scheme ID barcode, you can save it as an image on your phone or you can print and keep a hard copy in your wallet to scan at any RVM across all our Recycling Centres.

    I donated my refund to a charity. How do I get tax deductible receipt?

    Please get in contact with the charity directly to request a receipt for your donation. Note that only charities endorsed by the Australian Tax Office (Deductible Gift Recipient endorsement) can issue a tax-deductible receipt.     I was supporting one of the charities previously listed on the screens of your machines but they are no longer listed on the screen; how can I help?

    You can continue to donate your refund to the charity of your choice by scanning their scheme ID barcode at any RVM.
    If you haven’t got their scheme ID barcode, please ask the organisation directly. Once you have their scheme ID barcode, you can save it as an image on your phone or you can print & keep a hard copy in your wallet to scan at any RVM across all our Recycling Centres.

    I donated to a charity but I did not receive an email confirmation after my session.

    As the refund is transferred directly to the charity, the email confirmation will be sent to the email address connected to the scheme ID barcode scanned at the RVM.

    The charity, not-for-profit group, school, or sports club I want to support is not listed on the Containers for Change.

    If your favourite charity or cause isn’t listed then maybe they’re not registered with the Containers for Change scheme. We suggest you send them an email to let them know they could be raising funds with Containers for Change.

    Can I donate to a charity using bag drop?

    Yes! You can support your local community and NFP groups by donating your container refund using the scheme ID number of any registered charity. Simply enter the scheme ID number of the charity or NFP group of your choice into the tablet at the bag drop area, our Teams will process the containers and the refund will be directly transferred to them.
